Prayers for my family
We were a happy family - until a recent problem threatens us, threatens to tear us apart. I don't even know what to think or whom to side with. Please pray intensely.

Friday abstinence is Friday abstinence. Syro Malabar particular law does not mention such substitution. I shall bring it up in Confession.

Re: Friday abstinence question
UPDATE So we went today. I had planned to not order meat for myself; and things were fine, until - It was a new place, and we went as a family of seven, exploring the options, and whatever everyone ordered was kinda broken, with the social expectation that everyone take a piece. And so, I joined in....

Friday abstinence question
The law is to abstain from meat on Fridays.
Are you allowed to make rare exceptions? Like you are going with your family to a restaurant, once a year?

Re: Richard Dawkins considers himself a 'cultural Christian'

How can a spirit be omnipresent?
God is a spirit, ie formless and bodiless. He does not occupy space. Then how can he be omnipresent?

Fasting question
Now, Good Friday is a day of fasting for those in my age group, except for those with health issues and similar series reasons. We (as a family) plan to donate blood on Holy Saturday. I cannot fast today if I am to do that. It's not a "must" that I have to donate tomorrow, but it's very co...

General absolution in big crowd
During the Holy Week, the number of penitents becomes too high, and even after a long time there's still a long queue. In such a situation, may the priest give a general absolution?

Re: LGBT body question
The thing is, letting just anyone claim an otherwise unwanted body could lead to chaos. If the deceased had left specific instructions that his friend get custody of the body, that would be one thing. But absent a legal relationship, I don't see how it's prudent to release a body to someone without...

Re: Morality of swearing
The words "cursing" and "swearing" admit of various meanings. By accusing themselves of these sins penitents sometimes mean profanity, or the use of sacred names in anger against some creature (venial sin); blasphemy, the use of such names in anger against God or in contempt of ...
