Eight Beatitudes Or Nine?

I don't think it's under major debate, but there is some question for some if there are 8 Beatitudes or 9. The Beatitudes are presented in the Gospel of Matthew as follows: Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. ...

Lenten Practices

I am curious about what people do for Lent in terms of maybe reading certain books or joining Bible study courses.

I have two Lenten "Handbooks" I use, but I am looking for some new options.

Any recommendations for books or Bible study courses?

Prayer Books

If you have a prayer book, which one do you have and why?

I have two small prayer books, but I am looking at The Raccolta. It seems comprehensive and the 1957 printing is available.

Anyone have The Raccolta?

Catholic Wallpapers for Desktop

I am looking for a website or app that offers Catholic images I can use as desktop wallpapers for my laptop and lock screen/home images for my smartphone.

I'm cautious about just downloading images from search engines, so I have no problem paying for images or buying an app.

A Book, Or Books, About The Popes

Can anyone recommend a book or books about the popes? I am not looking for biographical information, rather, I want to learn about each papacy so I can map out how things changed over the centuries, for better or worse.

Good, Faithful Bible Study

I am looking for a good and faithful online Bible study course. Any suggestions? With all the craziness going on in the Church these days (Trads vs Rads, liberal vs conservative), I just don't know who to trust. I see that Jeff Cavins has some Bible study courses on Ascenion Press. Which side of the...

Re: Charismatic Renewal

For a little background on Franciscan U: It used to be a generic Catholic-branded but not terribly Catholic institution. When Fr. Michael Scanlan was put in charge, he wanted to shake things up. But you can't fire tenured faculty; all you can do is make them want to leave. He found that the Charism...

Charismatic Renewal

Today I learned about charismatic renewal, and what I learned shocked me. I was even more shocked after learning that Ralph Martin and other theologians I admire are Charismatic Renewalists. I also saw a connection to Franciscan University and EWTN. What exactly is the Charismatic Renewal movement? ...

Re: All religions are a path to God?

Maybe Pope Francis forgot about John 14:6... lol.

"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but by me.'"

Let's Talk Missals!

I am looking to purchase two Roman Missals - the best pre-Vatican II and the most updated and current post-Vatican II. Am I correct in thinking that the 1962 Roman Missal is the most authentic pre-Vatican II Missal? Is the one published by Baronius Press a good one to own? Which post-Vatican II miss...

I just found these forums. I was a user at the original DCF but stopped posting a long while ago. In searching for those forums, I found this site.
I am grateful that the old DCF has been taken under wing and continues to thrive.
