He was in fact stopped by civilian with a gun If so, then the gun wielder must face the full consequence of the law ... actual or made up for the occasion. He might have injured the knifer.

I am so glad that the assailant didn't have a gun. Just think -- people might have gotten hurt. And, I'm double thankful that none of the Walmart shoppers had a gun ... they might have injured the assailant.
