Re: New "Archbishop" of Canterbury is a woman

Did the Church of England get any money from GAFCON churches? That now with this split they will no longer receive? And if not, will there be any negative impact to the Church of England’s bottom line? No, each province in the World Anglican Communion is independent, similar to Orthodoxy, but befor...

Re: New "Archbishop" of Canterbury is a woman

Today, Gafcon is leading the Global Anglican Communion. As has been the case from the very beginning, we have not left the Anglican Communion; we are the Anglican Communion. At our upcoming G26 Bishops Conference in Abuja, Nigeria from 3 to 6 March 2026, we will confer and celebrate the Global Angli...

The Kenyan Catholic Church has introduced a new brand of altar wine for Holy Mass after the previous one became widely available in local bars. Simply labelled Mass Wine, the new sacramental drink bears the coat of arms of the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) and an official signature to ...

Leo XIV publishes first major document of pontificate: Dilexi te

Pope Leo XIV released the first major document of his young pontificate on Thursday, in which he called upon all the Christian faithful – especially Catholics – to “make their voices heard,” in decrying the sinful structures that contribute to poverty and make life for the poor even more miserable t...

Re: New "Archbishop" of Canterbury is a woman

The Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) has declared spiritual independence from the Church of England, rejecting the appointment of Bishop Sarah Mullally as the new Archbishop of Canterbury. The Church said her support for same-sex marriage and her elevation as the first female to hold the posit...

Re: Why is contemporary liturgical music so terrible?

Some of the older folk in my parish (now around 80) were very happy with the end of the latin mass. Their hostility still makes me jump as they say that they hated the mumbo jumbo latin that they did not understand. With that attitude they are the people who like all the corny songs, hugs and kisses...

Re: New "Archbishop" of Canterbury is a woman

Fr. Dwight Longenecker: If Pope Leo or a Catholic prelate says nice things about the appointment of an Anglican archbishop all it means is that they have good manners. It is not a theological statement.

Re: The Wisdom of the over 80 rule

The Catholic Church has 118 Cardinals over 80 and that includes 28 in their 90s and 1 age 100.
With better medical care that number can only increase over time.
The age 80 non voting rule is sound.

Re: The firing of three professors

This makes me concerned about Pope Leo XIV. Make me believe he's just Francis II. This is a ridiculous statement on the face of it. The Pope is the bishop of Rome, he is not the ordinary of every diocese in the world and it is not his job to micromanage every diocese and second guess every decision...

Re: What if you accidentally forgot a sin during Confession?

Catholic Answers: It was absolved already. If it is a venial sin, you do not need to confess it. If it was a mortal sin, it was absolved, provided you at least implicitly intended to mention it if you had remembered it. What this means is that you confessed all known sins and would have confessed wh...

St John Henry Newman set to become newest Doctor of the Church

One of the great modern thinkers of Christianity, a key figure in a spiritual and human journey that left a profound mark on the Church and 19th-century ecumenism, and the author of writings that show how living the faith is a daily “heart-to-heart” dialogue with Christ. A life spent with energy and...
