Having been more exposed as a "preacher's kid" to discussions of doctrine, I have never heard of this in any Independent Church of Christ/Christian Church, Foursquare, Assemblies of God, Non-Denominational, Pentecostal Church of God or Nazarene exposure I had.

Neither of the books you mention was widely discussed in the circles of my pre-Catholic life (I converted in my early 30's and did a lot of doctrinal research in the 10 years prior).

I've heard of it in some outlier fringy groups, and it likely has found a home in some areas of the interwebz that would make it appear to be more broadly held than it is.
