The pocket size fits in my winter coat and it goes everywhere with me. It’s a great gift and free.
My bible at home was like $120 and it’s beautifully crafted but I don’t open it anywhere as much as this pocket sized one.
Can’t recommend it enough.

Pope Francis (and Dr. John Bergsma, who is well-known but not nearly as well-known as the Pope!) recommends carrying a Bible with you. I'm glad you found one that works.
Re: Gideons mini pocket Bible
Tonight I put a little holy water on the book, but I personally see no problem with the book, blessed or not blessed my guess is someone blessed that box of books somewhere along the way.
My rosary was purchased new at a Catholic Church and it was not blessed by anyone since its purchase. However it was made in Italy and its journey into my possession was a blessing in itself. My rosary goes with me during group rosary led by a Catholic priest. It seems fine.

Bibles don't need to be blessed since they're already the word of God.

It is a nice little volume if you use it, but it is much too small for these old eyes, even with my glasses, I need bigger type.

Can you still see well enough to chase kids off your lawn?
Re: Gideons mini pocket Bible
My grandfather told me that in his day they would hand out Gideon Bibles at the public schools. He said that he read much of the New Testament as a child in his fifth grade classroom. That must have been back in the 70's and it was in a small town. I wonder if it would be possible to hand out Bibles now at public school?

I put up a sign so that the kids (and dogs) are warned off 24/7.Obi-Wan Kenobi wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2025 1:46 pm Can you still see well enough to chase kids off your lawn?

Only if you wanted a major contretemps. And, perhaps, an arrest.
I spent much of elementary school in an LDS community. Where church, state, and school were one. The LDS religion was not pushed, but it was always present and nobody was particularly bothered. Bibles and/or the Book of Mormon would not have been out of place.

Re: Gideons mini pocket Bible
The Gideons are often seen on college campuses handing out New Testaments. I'm not fond of this form of evangelism; it is too coercive, the Gideons will put it into your hand unless you object. Whenever the Gideons showed up on campus, people would take the Bibles and throw them on the ground; they would become litter, and you could find them everywhere. Few wanted one, but because Gideons would thrust them into your hand, many would get one whether they wanted one or not. I remember the saying that one ought not to cast your pearls before swine. What would be the point of giving all of them away just to have them become garbage 5 minutes later?
