David Blankenhorn - from Nay to Yay on Same Sex Marriage

I had David Blankenhorn‘s book defending real marriage “The Future of Marriage” published in 2007.
He was an expert witness arguing for that via contra same sex marriage during the Proposition 8 farce… where Judge Walker ruled that Blankenhorn was not an expert on the matter and essentially waived off everything he had said.
But then, in 2012, Blankenhorn switched teams. Still believing that children had a fundamental right to their biological mom and dad…. And still believing that advances of SSM would undermine that “fundamental right”; he regardless thought it wise to change up his views and become pro SSM. Because, heck… who are we to delegitimize the love between people of the same sex.
I always thought anyone with a quarter of a teaspoon of reasoning could see this was absurd. How is non-heterosexual-marriage love sullied when one contends “you can’t get married and sleep with each other”?
Like are two incredibly close friends missing out on some culmination of love if they don’t hook up and settle down with each other?
Is a mother’s love for her children somehow lessened if she doesn’t desire bedroom proclivities with them?
There are so many different expressions of non-conjugal love which are beautiful and important. And only a doofus would think that there’s something missing from those expressions if they don’t eventually shack up.
How Blankenhorn decided to change his views while admitting the reality of the consequences makes on furrow the brow.
