How many got a homily today?

I find the variance by parish on Palm Sunday odd.
Given the extremely long gospel reading, about 20 minutes long if you use the long form and don't rush through it like the Micro Machines guy, some priests don't give a homily at all, some give a homily but very briefly, and some give the normal 10-15 minute homily. My priest gave a full homily, so we didn't even begin the Eucharistic liturgy until it was normally over. I usually attend the 10 AM Mass, and on a normal Sunday, it is usually done around 10:45 to 10:50. Today, we didn't even start the Eucharistic liturgy until 10:40, so we got done around 11:20.
How common is this? I'm used to no homily or a short 5-minute homily at most on Palm Sunday.
