Soo... what's the history with the old Defenders of the Catholic Faith forum??

What was it about? How many members did there use to be? When did it shut down? What did people use to talk about there?

It was a lot like this one but bigger. Just curious, how did you find us?

I was just looking for forums to join, searched "Catholic readers forum," and found: https://forums.avemariaradio.net/

There were so few members and posts that I thought this was yet another defunct forum, and then I found that the forum had only been set up this month. Hmm, I thought, this could be interesting.

Thank you for the info. Not much left there. As I mentioned in my welcome note, the forum on Ave Maria which was taken over from the original started by Steve Ray had been in existence for years (about 25 - and many of us have been a part of it for that long). It was once very active though had slowed quite a bit of late mainly due to people going to other formats for online interactions. I do think there is a place for this kind of thing, and really wanted to have a place for us to continue to be together.

True, I do think that a lot of forums shut down especially with the rise of Facebook groups. The problem is that I don't use Facebook for internet socialising, and I so far haven't been bothered to get a Reddit account.

I do like communities that aren't overly large but still have a fair amount of activity.

I also don't do internet socializing on Facebook, etc., and many of our members don't use that type of social media at all. That is precisely why I wanted to continue with this format.

I was 45 back then. In 25 years I'll be 50. Whew! I'm getting old!

I keep trying to figure out how I have kids older than I am.
