Catholicism in India

Post by Stella »

Two of the parishes I go to for weekday Masses have big Indian congregations and there is a special kind of holiness present among these people in my opinion. Evangelisation seems to be more powerful in the Global South today than in traditional Western countries. If you have a spare 13 minutes, this video will lift your spirits.

I once went to a Syro-Malabar parish, English divine liturgy. It was beautiful and the people there were very friendly.

Close to the end of the liturgy, they invited visitors to come up and introduce themselves if they felt like it.

At the time I went with my close friend. At the time he wanted to get an Indian girlfriend and I suggested going to the church with me.

When they called us up, we went up and introduced ourselves.
I then added "hey ladies, he's single" and my buddy was so embarrassed but he knew I was trying to help.

I'm a Syro Malabar Christian from its heartland.
Happy to hear good words about it.

Unfortunately, the process of secularisation is gradually seeping in. Among other things.
