The St. Nicholas Tavelić Network for converts from Islam

Post by Irenaeus »

The National Catholic Register published this article on 17 February 2026 about a mission I heard nothing about before:

New Network Offers Lifeline to Converts From Islam to the Catholic Faith

Here's a link to the TavNet website.

I was privileged a few years ago to baptize and confirm a convert from Islam.

Quite interesting.

I noted the comment that infiltration is an issue with the network. I wonder what the reaction might be, especially in Muslim communities (such as those in England and France and Dearborn), if converts are revealed. It seems to me that, one of the key factors in the lack of assimilation into Western culture by Moslem immigrants, is intimidation. Backed by action and buttressed by woke governmental structures.

It is estimated that about 40% of Muslim immigrants end up apostasizing from Islam, and the number is even higher among the children and grandchildren of first generation immigrants

I have Wondered, from time to time, how God feels about a person who is not a Christian but is from one of the other Abrahamic religions. I'm not inclined to go deep theology, but -- is an observant and sincere Musiim or Jew credited for being somewhere on the path?

Just a passing pondering.

I don't think Islam is an authentic Abrahamic religion

What I do find interesting is the avalanche of apostasy from Islam that is currently happening.

According to polls taken by Western firms, only 40% of people in Iran identify as Muslim. And of the 60% who say they are not Muslim, most say they once thought of themselves as Muslims, but they lost their faith. In the last few years, thousands of Mosques in Iran were closed due to non-attendance. Indeed, during the mass protests against the regime that happened earlier this year, the protestors began burning down all the Mosques in the areas they captured; they did this, no doubt, to express contempt for Islam.

In Libya, 60% of people under 30 describe themselves as "non-religious", while 50% of people under 30 in Tunisia and Morocco describe themselves in the same way. There are also noticeable declines in religiosity in other parts of the Muslim world in countries like Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. In fact, the only Muslim country in the Middle East that is not experiencing religious decline is Yemen.

This level of apostasy is unprecedented in the modern era, especially important is the defection of the youth, who will be raising the next generation, and will not be raising them as Muslims.
