Question about prayers of the faithful options

Post by DominiCanis »

One church I go to had this different response to the prayers of the faithful. Instead of the usual it was a responsorial to Our Lady. Do the rubrics allow for this option? I should add, that this church is designated as (I think) a Marian shrine, so maybe this was permitted in this particular case? Anyone know?

There are basically no rules for the prayers of the faithful. What you heard is fine.

Ah, that's a relief and good to know, thanks! It was actually nice to hear (incorporating prayers to Our Lady in the liturgy) but I'm often finicky about the rubrics and just couldn't help but wonder.

This is baked into the Byzantine Liturgy:
"Through the prayers of the Mother of God,
Oh Savior, save us."
