What to make of the 'secret' TLM held at Whitehouse?

Post by Stella »

I can understand holding a Mass on the anniversary of the report identifying the TLM movement as harboring ideologies, but is holding the Mass secretly inside the Whitehouse really prudent? Does it cross that line separating Church and State?

If it is secret how do you know about it?
If you ever feel like Captain Picard yelling about how many lights there are, it is probably time to leave the thread.

'Secret' is how Fr Z describes it in the linked blog post.

At any rate assuming this actually happened, and we have no proof; the motivation is clear: the FBI and the intelligence agencies have essentially declared war on the Catholic Church, engaging in illegal surveillance and placing informants inside churches. Keep in mind that unlike Catholics, Muslims actually do support terrorism but the same agencies that are engaging in surveillance of Catholics would never think of doing the same with Mosques, not even the mosques where they publicly chant slogans calling for the genocide of the Jews. Therefore, with full knowledge that they were being closely watched by the FBI and the intelligence agencies they decided to engage in what they consider “extremism” and an act of “domestic terrorism” and hold Latin Mass, daring the FBI to arrest them. Frankly it is a very bold and courageous act of defiance, and exactly what is needed to destroy the incipient totalitarianism of the administration and its allies.

And it wasn't in the White House, it was in the House of Representatives. Supposedly.

it was reported on Relevant Radio today. Apparently 60 or 70 in attendance and yes it was in response to the FBI's targeting of Catholics according to the news story I heard. It seems not a very well kept "secret" if it was intended to be one. And if peaceful prayer is a threat to democracy it kind of makes one wonder who exactly finds it threatening and why.
Thank you for your patience as I build the board. I have about 1/16 to go.

Catholics are pro-life and against gay "marriage" and actively engaged in activism on both fronts. This is "domestic terrorism" according to the left. They would never go after Muslims because they are afraid of Muslims, for good reason, and because Muslims are not active in political activism.

It was not at all secret, but it wasn't "approved" by the Archdiocese.

Pro tip: "White House" is two words. (So is "Super Bowl", not that you used the term here.)

They were very creative back then. “What pray, George, shall we call this big white house to be the seat of our esteemed gentleman Presidents? I know!!"

It wasn't known as the White House then - the brick exterior hadn't yet been painted

It’s been white since the British burned it during the War of 1812.

He's just quoting from Condon's headline. I guess it was "secret" in the sense that it wasn't publicized, but of course the Pope banned publicizing Latin Mass times so....

Pro tip - if you plan a visit to the White House, take along a disabled friend :) My BFF and I visited last year, I use a wheelchair when I will be walking long distances. Because of the wheelchair, I could not climb the steps that are part of the tour, so, she and I were taken on an alternate route - to use the elevator. Going that way, we went through the kitchen, and passed through a doorway where old part meets new part. In that doorway are exposed old large stone "bricks" that are still the original color and show the 1812 burn marks! It was amazing to be able to peek behind the scenes, to see a small part of the family area.
Trophy Dwarf, remember??

Admin note: I am sad to report the passing of this poster, a long time community member and dear friend. May the Perpetual Light shine upon Kelly (kage_ar) and through the mercy of God may she rest in peace.
