Hi from Swede1875

Post by Swede1875 »

Hi all.
Long time no see!

The old board was very important to me in my conversion story, some 20 years ago. :cloud9:

I especially remember how someone on the board, after replying to my numerous questions said:
- Joakim, Catholicism is not a Swedish Smorgasboard… You cannot just pick and choose!

Even though worded funny, it helped me to embrace the fullness of the teachings.

:siggy :siggy :siggy

And btw, what happened to the old board?

Joakim

:wave Welcome!

AMR decided they no longer wanted to host the board. So we had to find a new home. And here we are.
Thank you for your patience as I build the board. I have about 1/16 to go.

I think the old board got taken over by Ave Maria Radio, and they just quit supporting it.

Depends on what you mean by old. There was the one that Steve originally began. Then there was the switch to a new format, then Ave Maria Radio took that over, and did nothing with it. Now, we've reinvented ourselves.

I don't know, maybe my experience is different. but I haven't heard all those obnoxious heretical and quasi-heretical hymns since college, Ashes, Anthem, All Are Welcome, etc. The whole HHS corpus. They are not even in the missalettes we use. I'm not saying all the hymns are good, most of them are awful, sentimental treacle, but better than heresy. The only questionable hymn I can think of is "The Supper of the Lord" which used to have the questionable lyrics "precious body, precious blood, here in bread and wine" apparently teaching Lutheranism. But somewhere along the way, the words were changed so now it says "precious body, precious blood, seen as bread and wine", still an awful song but at least it has been modified to be consistent with Transubstantiation.
If you ever feel like Captain Picard yelling about how many lights there are, it is probably time to leave the thread.
