We know that all the mandates were BS because those making them didn't believe in them themselves, they were caught time and again violating their own rules! I'm also very skeptical when any issue is pushed hard by the Left. The mandates that were enforced on children did more harm than good, that is a fact and it was disgusting!

We had protocols along with the rest of the world. What do you think should have been the strategy for dealing with Covid?

At what stage of Sweden's response are you recommending. By the end of 2020 Sweden had admitted it's failings in the response.

Sweden has just recently recommended this seasons vaccinations for the vulnerable.

When Sweden admitted 'there were too many deaths', what would be your response to that admission?

This right here. My top two favorite examples of the sheer hypocrisy came from California, the state that manufactures hypocrisy on an assembly line.

1. Governor Newsom and the French Laundry thing.
2. Nancy Pelosi and her hair appointment, compounded by her hysterical denunciation of the shop owner for "setting her up."

This is very much a political opinion instead of a scientific opinion.

Mask use for those who are infected as well as those who wish to reduce their risk of catching viruses has been the practice since well before 2020.

Your prerogative not to use masks, and it is also my prerogative to use them.

I'd hope that you would put politics aside and use them if you have people in your circle for whom even a cold can be dangerous.

First off, I trust nothing that the BBC reports, secondly the one link to the video I posted disputes the death toll in Sweden, that it was actually far less than the rest of the world. Keep in mind, many reports of "Covid deaths" were people who died with Covid, not necessarily from it. The vaccines are pushed by big pharm and big pharm lobbyists who have politicians and health officials in their back pocket. The fentanyl crisis showed us that.

No, the consensus before COVID was that only N95 masks have any utility, but even then only a limited one. And they are difficult to use and doctors in medical school have to take an entire class to learn how to use them correctly. Cloth masks are completely useless and do nothing, it is nothing but a placebo at best. Doctors who wear masks during surgery do it to protect the patient by avoiding infection, not to protect themselves. When doctors want to protect themselves, they wear an entire hazmat suit. I used to work at a hospital in high school and whenever I saw a doctor wearing a full hazmat suit, I knew he was working with a very infectious patiet.

We are told to "trust the science", "trust the doctors", the media, government...as if all these entities have our best interest in mind, as if they love us. Science and medicine can be bought and sold, this should be obvious. With the climate alarmists and the trans influencers science is becoming a religion instead of a discipline. The "Culture of Death" is expanding...

I read Robert Kennedy Jr's book "The Case Against Fauci" and he has an entire about the cliches "trust the science" and "the science is settled" and he makes the point that this is not the language of science, it is the language of religion. Real science is never settled, and no one ever is asked to just blindly "trust" it. If you should trust the science because it is settled, scientific advances would be impossible. From Galileo to Einstein major scientific breakthroughs are always the result of distrusting "settled" science and directly challenging it.

The "Religion of the Left" is little more than a return to paganism, in this post Christian culture that is what is filling the void. Nature abhors a vacuum, there will be a religion of the land. I don't really think that Western Civilization can be saved apart from a miraculous intervention. In the meantime here's some more trustworthy science...

This is precisely why I believe that many anti maskers are blindly falling for propaganda. The study that journalist linked to concludes...

Authors Conclusions: The high risk of bias in the trials, variation in outcome measurement, and relatively low adherence with the interventions during the studies hampers drawing firm conclusions. There were additional RCTs during the pandemic related to physical interventions but a relative paucity given the importance of the question of masking and its relative effectiveness and the concomitant measures of mask adherence which would be highly relevant to the measurement of effectiveness, especially in the elderly and in young children.

It finished by recommending better organised study groups. Did the author mis read the study he linked to or did he know that it would be circulated among the anti maskers who wouldn't read the data themselves?

Having lived with a person who was at a life or death risk of infection (my husband) we both went through training with the Infectious Disease team. Setting up a sterile area for dressing changes was required. One thing required was that everyone in the room, including my husband, had to wear masks during the dressing changes. I cannot imagine that they require masks simply for grins and giggles

Family members on chemo were required to wear masks when they were out and about many, many years before 2020.

Yes, full suits are the gold standard for those treating people with deadly infections.

This does not mean that surgical masks provide zero protection to the wearer.

We teach our kids to cover their mouth/nose when they cough, wonder if the efficacy of elbows has been studied?

If wearing a mask helps me be 10% less likely to spread my virus via a cough, I will wear one. If wearing a mask makes me a little less apt to catch a virus that will become pneumonia (a simple cold is very dangerous for me with my lungs), I will wear it for sure!

Do you see any irony in this comment considering you called your thread 'facediapers'?

Does the fact that your cited source completely misreads the study he linked to, give you pause to reconsider his credibility?
