An iPad is a kind of tablet, just one running iOS instead of Android or Windows. Which one you want depends on your preference for the operating system. Apple's advertising to the contrary, their products aren't all that easier to use than the competition. Apple's only advantage is that adding another to your account is marginally easier if you already use several of their products. And it is marginally easier to upgrade from one device to another. It is very easy to upgrade from one Android phone or tablet to another, everything automatically copies once you log in to your Google account, but with iOS the process is maybe 5% easier, not significant but it is a slight advantage.
There was a time when I would have argued that Windows and Android had an advantage over iOS and the Mac because the latter was locked down (Steve Jobs' infamous "walled garden") and the former were unfettered and you could do whatever you wanted. This is no longer true, today Google and Microsoft offer just as much of a "walled garden" as Apple, only unlike Apple, they try to give the illusion of freedom.

I'd consider an e-ink tablet so you can read lyrics even under bright lights (no glare)

My Chromebook works as a tablet or a "laptop", you can fold it inside out flat to be a tablet. As a singer, it would be nice IMHO to be able to set it up like a tent to read setlist or lyrics without needing to worry about a stand/holder. It pairs so easily with my android phone, everything is in the Google cloud so I do not have to worry about losing things. Little remotes are inexpensive to manipulate page turns. And if it gets broken during a gig, it is far less of a financial bite to replace!

Where would you set it up as a tent without a stand? Would want it at eye level...
