There's been buzz around this position for more than a week now and Ukraine says it can't accept the logic of the call.
If that was suggested to the Allies in WWII, we'd have all thought it was literal suicide. Here the difference is that Ukraines position seems more hopeless with more and more citizens dying for what may be ultimate defeat. I lean towards Pope Francis' pull back and bide your time logic for Ukraine at this point.

Pope asks Ukraine to have the courage to negotiate with Russia
Re: Pope asks Ukraine to have the courage to negotiate with Russia
Negotiation has to go both ways, it is impossible to "Negotiate" with an enemy that seeks your annihilation. If we are going to put pressure on Ukraine to negotiate, we need to put 10 times as much pressure on Russia to do the same, since they are the aggressor they are the ones with the obligation to sue for peace.
And we need to stop sending money and weapons to Ukraine to escalate the war and start pressuring both sides to end it.

If you ever feel like Captain Picard yelling about how many lights there are, it is probably time to leave the thread.
