"Born Again"
"Born Again"
The Church teaches that one is "born of water and the Spirit" in baptism. Jesus taught that the Spirit is like the wind, that it blows wherever it wishes, and so it would be with those born of the Spirit. So, when folks delayed their baptism, some till the very end, was it not an attempt to control the uncontrollable?
Re: "Born Again"
Scripture also says that no one comes to Jesus unless God draws him. That says to me that everyone is baptized at exactly the right time.
Trophy Dwarf, remember??

He's talking about in the Early Church like Constantine who put off baptism until near death. The Church always condemned the practice but it was the inevitable result of baptismal regeneration combined with the harsh public penance required for post-baptismal sin.
