Rose and Dorothy loved to play tennis. They played when growing up and both were pretty good in high-school and even won some local tournaments. They continued to live near each other as they grew, had children, and went through life and played as often as they could, really enjoying the time spent together on the court but even more loving playing the game. They played well into their seventies, as often as they could, even when it became more difficult an painful with age. As time passed, finally, Dorothy became ill and it seemed time was short. Rose begged her... "Dorothy, please, when you get to heaven, you have to find a way to send me a sign, letting me know if we can still play tennis in heaven". Dorothy promised to try. Dorothy passed a few hours later.
The next weekend, while Rose was sleeping, she was awakened by a loud noise. When she came to her senses, she heard the voice of her beloved friend Dorothy, speaking to her as if in a dream. "Rose, wake up!", said Dorothy. Rose asked, "Dorothy, is it really you?" Rose replied, "yes, Dorothy, it is!" "Where are you?", Rose asked. "I'm in heaven", Dorothy replied. "I wanted to tell you I have good news and bad news for you". Rose begged for the good news to be delivered first. Dorothy agreed to the request. "It is great here, Rose.", Dorothy continued. "We get to play tennis as much as we like, my strokes have improved, we have lots of fun, and we can play for hours and hours without any thought of injury or being tired!". "That sounds great!", Rose replied. "What is the bad news?". Dorothy hesitated a moment before replying, "You're playing next Tuesday".
