Test of the angels?

Post by anawim »

Where did this idea originate:

The angels were informed that they were to serve mankind as God's creation and adopted children. I've heard Rabbinic commentary (Talmud), Augustine, and even Aquinas quoting Augustine.
Anyone know it's origin?

I don't think it's St. Thomas. He says that the devil's sin was wanting to be like God: https://www.newadvent.org/summa/1063.htm

It’s a very old idea that made itself into the Q’uran in which Allah makes man from the dust and orders the angels to bow to him and Satan refuses and is cast out of heaven.
If you ever feel like Captain Picard yelling about how many lights there are, it is probably time to leave the thread.
