He changed when he started teaching at the seminary in Pittsburgh, and also went to Rome as guest professor in Januarys. Don't remember when that was, but that's when I noticed a difference.
I would not be surprised to learn that Bergsma had something to do with it, too. Once FUS hired Bergsma, I think the two of them got tight and maybe that played a role. That was probably at least a decade ago. Anyway, Bergsma wasn't there in 2001 when I left.

He started as a research assistant in 2003, and started teaching there in 2004.
