Let's Talk Missals!

Post by Bartholomew »

I am looking to purchase two Roman Missals - the best pre-Vatican II and the most updated and current post-Vatican II.

Am I correct in thinking that the 1962 Roman Missal is the most authentic pre-Vatican II Missal? Is the one published by Baronius Press a good one to own?

Which post-Vatican II missal would be best? :?:

"Best" is at least somewhat a subjective term. The Missal published by Magnificat looks good but is unwieldy. Surprisingly (given their past history), I think I like the one from Catholic Book Publishing the best for actual use in Mass.

Most of the people I know who have pre-V2 handmissals have the Angelus Press version. I hardly ever see the Baronius. I know that doesn't really answer the question of which one is the best. (I have a St. Joseph Daily Missal from 1959 or so.)
