Good, Faithful Bible Study

Post by Bartholomew »

I am looking for a good and faithful online Bible study course.

Any suggestions?

With all the craziness going on in the Church these days (Trads vs Rads, liberal vs conservative), I just don't know who to trust.

I see that Jeff Cavins has some Bible study courses on Ascenion Press.

Which side of the chasm is Ascension Press on? I always thought that Jeff Cavins was safe, I guess I can say.I don't fall on either side of the divide because I reject the very notion that there can be liberal Catholics, or conservative Catholics.

Jesus is not a politician. He is neither conservative nor liberal.

Jesus is Truth. Politics is an antonym to truth.

I started using material from the St. Paul Center. After about a half dozen studies, they no longer produce anything new. I then started using material from Ascension Press. The material was very informative at first. The last couple of studies were less informative, and more conversational. I just didn't get that much out of it. I've used material from Agape Bible Study. Good stuff, but like St. Paul Center, the amount of new material seems limited.

Hopefully somebody else has additional info.

Anything published by Ascension Press is good
If you ever feel like Captain Picard yelling about how many lights there are, it is probably time to leave the thread.

If you can get one, the new Ignatius Study Bible is really nice I got mine as a Christmas present for myself. I think they are on backorder until later this spring. If I remember correctly, 20 years in the making. It is full of great commentary and insight. There are some Youtube videos that review it . Check it out.

I've watched some videos from Austine Institute that are good as well. The series is called Lectio.

I have one--I preordered as soon as they were announced. It's heavy! But it's very good.
