Any other nerds as stoked about 3 Body on Netflix as I am???

Post by Kage_ar »

If I had not had to work on Thursday, I'd have set an alarm to get up in the wee small hours to begin watching as soon as they dropped on Netflix. It was like when my kid would go to the bookstore at midnight to get the new Harry Potter installment, I was that giddy with excitement.

I'd read enough ahead of time to understand the changes made by the screenwriters, and there was only one omission in the first episode that made me grind my teeth. For those who know the novel, the pool table demonstration would have helped those who have not read the novels IMHO (I think the Chinese TV version did an excellent job of that scene).

Anyway, I have no one IRL to talk to about this stuff, so, wondered if any of my invisible friends wanted to talk about it.

Banned for mentioning IRL.

I don't know what that is...except for the unsolved problem in Newtonian mechanics of course.
If you ever feel like Captain Picard yelling about how many lights there are, it is probably time to leave the thread.

Not just unsolved, but unsolvable, at least in closed form.

I have no idea what Kelly is talking about either.

The general problem is unsolvable but there are many special cases where it can be solved easily.

With all of the nerds here, I'd think someone else would have read the Hugo and Nebula award-winning novel (the first of a trilogy)

The Hugos and Nebulas are no longer markers of a good book. Often, they are quite the opposite.

Book was incomprehensible.
Series is wonderful (just finished 5 of 8).
