Isn't it crazy that in just the last 4 years, the Democratic Party has moved so far to the left that what used to be considered "Liberal" or "left of center" is now considered "right-wing?"
I am thinking of people like RFK Jr, Tusli Gabbard, Joe Rogan, and Bill Maher, all of whom were considered "liberal" or even "very liberal" as recently as 2020 but are now often dismissed by Democrats as "right-wing" activists because they are not 100% on board with the modern Democrat platform attacking free speech, denying ballot access to opponents and using government agencies for partisan political purposes.
Tim Walz has said that the First Amendment does not protect "misinformation" or "hate speech" and has called for a government agency to record what everyone says for later use, who decides what is "misinformation" or "hate speech", the way the modern left defines these terms they just mean "whatever speech I don't like". Mark Zuckerberg just admitted that he has been censoring speech on Facebook because he was ordered to do by the Biden administration, using the coercive force of the state to force compliance by threatening to remove anti-trust protection. It wasn't that long ago that the left used to say that the entire purpose of the First Amendment was to protect unpopular speech because popular speech doesn't need protection, now they argue literally the exact opposite. If someone today holds to the OLD LEFT ACLU position on the First Amendment, you are now considered "right-wing".
In 2024, the Democrats have spent hundreds of millions of dollars trying to deny ballot access to Trump (until blocked by the Supreme Court), RFK Jr (until he quit his independent campaign in disgust at his inability to get on the ballot due to Democrat efforts to block him), Jill Stein and the Green Party (despite the Green Party having been on the ballot in all 50 states for more than 20 years) and Cornel West.
Yes, it is true that for decades, both the Democrats and Republicans have used shady shenanigans to deny 3rd parties ballot access, but there is a standard political tactic and then there is what Democrats have done this year which is more extreme than we have ever seen before, they turned the dial, not up to 11 Spinal Tap style, but up to about 25.
If the Democrats are such deep believers in "democracy," why are they trying to deny every other candidate a place on the ballot? Is having only one candidate on the ballot a sign of a healthy democracy? If not for the Supreme Court intervention, it is entirely possible that in November, Kamala Harris would be the ONLY candidate on the ballot in all 50 states. This is Soviet-style "democracy" they are trying to establish here, but to say that, or question the morality of the tactic is to be "right-wing".
The way things are going, by 2040, people like Bernie Sanders, AOC will be called "right-wing"
And if you think that the Democrats have gone too far in trying to deny ballot access way beyond the standard political tactics, then you are "right-wing",including, apparently, even Cornel West and Jill Stein.

Re: Left of Center is now Right Wing
I'd put Wilson next to the far left person. He was the one who hunted down all those opposed to the draft for the Great War. He was also deeply racist, a trait that seems to be endemic among the Left.

From about the 1890s to the early 20's, "Progressive" was a popular buzzword in political circles. Anyone who wanted to be elected would have to find some way to describe his views as "Progressive" in some way or another. In the election of 1912, Theodore Roosevelt, William Howard Taft, and Woodrow Wilson all described themselves as "Progressive." But Roosevelt's "Progressivism" was quite different from Wilson's.
Wilson was an academic who had written many books and treatises on government and the Constitution. According to Wilson's ideology, Congress was supreme, had absolute power, and was the most important branch of government. This idea of the supremacy of Congress was popular when Wilson was out of power, once he came into power, his belief changed now the executive branch was supreme. This "flexibility" that supreme authority" should reside in the hands of whatever branch of government the left controls at the moment is characteristic of the Left. During the 20th century, it changed from Congress, to the President, to the Supreme Court, and back again with some regularity.
