Book Suggestions for Teens
For a boy, thirteen, who thinks he needs to be reading horror and manga, or playing video games and watching shorts. Strictly religious is probably a non-starter right now (aka lives of saints).

He's gorgeous! Keep us posted on his progress. I'm glad you have a hard head. :-D My two babies, Chloe and Charlotte, are four years, and 90-something pounds each. I've taught Chloe to stand still and let me lean on her while getting myself up from the floor. It's just practice, I haven't fallen in...

Israel-Palestine
Amazing that there are NO threads on Israel-Palestine.
And I'm not, either, except to say:

It's a two-part take on the relationship between Protestantism and Zionism.

Re: Facebook Marketplace Experience
I sold my motorcycle from home, my only option. I do like a different meeting place. Anyway, these two hits I got were bogus, they smelled bad and they went away. I thought later that I would tell them just to look for the house with the k-9 cruiser parked out front because my patrol doggie lives wi...

Re: Facebook Marketplace Experience
I have NOT given out my address. First guy wanted to send his brother and friend to my house at 10 pm. I let him know up front that was causing me security concerns.

Facebook Marketplace Experience
I put some things up for sale and very quickly got hit twice with "do you have Zelle or Venmo?" and "someone else will be by to pick it up, where do you live?". Makes my spidey sense tingle. After the second, I'm pretty sure it's a scam although I'm not sure how it works, other t...

Re: New Member of the Family--sort of
Thanks, everybody! The vast majority of the work is being done by my wife. Serious heavy lifting right now. On top of dealing with me, and our teenage son. Never tell her she doesn't even lift.

Re: New Member of the Family--sort of
Today was an unscheduled test for him in what he would do if I fell. I think my fall count could give Gerald ford a run for his money. So I was pulling the slider to the back yard open and hit the floor. First, my hard head didn't break the glass--yay! Second, I didn't fall on Leon--yay! Then Leon s...

A Few New Pieces Up
I've got a few new pieces up, my latest just today. https://stevenfarley.substack.com/p/the-bread-of-madness That's today's. https://stevenfarley.substack.com/ gets you to the front door. Subscribing doesn't cost and I'm not smart enough to know what to do with an email list. Lots to nose around in....

I love that song, but I don't throw rocks at any of these kinds of lists. I couldn't even begin to make a list, the time suck would take me to my grave. It would be almost as bad as having a login to this site and Twitter. Which I do.

Re: What next in the Russia-Ukraine War?
I don't trust any western media even more than I don't trust eastern media to accurately represent what's actually happening in that conflict. It feels like a huge mind-job.
I think we're getting played by our own govt yet again. Rinse and repeat.

We ditched our actual tv years back so my son calls it "watching tv" when he's watching anything on the computer. We don't get into any kind of series, as a rule.

Sound of Freedom, the feel-good summer gut-punch movie of the year.
It was well-done.
Before that, Nefarious. I liked it, but the script and acting weren't up to SoF.

Re: What were your people doing during WWII?
Ma's daddy was drafted the last bit of WW2 with a wife and three kids. He didn't have to go to fight, it was over before he was trained up to go. Dunno about dad's dad, he's a big blank spot. Dad tried to enlist but they didn't want him with flat feet and an old injury. Then I was in the first Gulf ...
